MONERIS SOLUTIONS, INFOTOUCH AND MERCHANT PARTNERS TEAM TO DELIVER INTEGRATED TOUCH SCREEN POS SYSTEM


Industry Innovators Combine Merchant Account, Touch Screen POS Software, and Virtual Point of Sale Technology To Help Retailers Obtain Greater Profits From Their POS System


CHICAGO, IL, January 11, 2005 – Moneris Solutions, InfoTouch Corporation, and Merchant Partners are joining forces to integrate payment processing with touch screen technology and help the retail industry transition to a touch screen point-of-sale (POS) infrastructure.


The integrated offering consists of a Moneris Solutions’ merchant account, InfoTouch’s Store Manager touch screen POS software, and Merchant Partner’s Virtual Point of Sale (VPOS).


Historically believed to be a niche application, touch screen technology has recently gained significant momentum. Touch screens are now the interface of choice for new ATMs, self-checkout lanes, public pay phones, kiosks, gift registries, electronic voting equipment, and corporate training. Frost and Sullivan estimates that the growth of touch screen technology in the retail industry will reach $2.4 billion over the next three years. Moreover, half of the Top 100 retailers recently stated in a LakeWest Group report that touch screen at the point of sale is a high-priority item.


As part of this joint solution, Moneris Solutions provides retailers with the merchant services account necessary to accept electronic payments. Moneris delivers, proprietary software, e-commerce solutions, web-based financial reporting, and the necessary services and support so that merchants can be equipped to accept credit and debit cards as well as paper and electronic checks, PIN debit, gift cards.


Moneris’ payments solutions are integrated with InfoTouch’s windows-based touch screen Store Manager POS software. The standard Store Manager module includes a graphical interface that helps cashiers ring up items quickly and accurately, real-time inventory record management, customizable customer relationship programs, purchase order aggregation, and advanced reporting. The Store Manager application is now a part of a much more robust software called the InfoTouch Retail Suite, that centrally manages all aspects of a multi-store retail operations


The final component of this integrated solution is the Virtual POS (VPOS) offering from Merchant Partners, which allows retailers to process real-time credit card transactions using an existing computer with an Internet connection. An inexpensive credit card swipe reader attaches to the computer so that no software installation is required and no dedicated credit card terminal needs to be installed. “Touch screen technology at the POS is being readily accepted by specialty retailers because it saves 40-60 percent in training cost and time and its unique architecture reduces errors,” said Keith Neerman, CEO, InfoTouch. “At InfoTouch, the idea has always been to make POS easier, faster, and to offer better service - integrating payments processing as part of the POS software just makes sense and we are pleased to be working with Moneris and Merchant Partners to make this happen.”
