Koontz Promotion Comes As Moneris Continues to Strengthen Position in Financial Institutions Market

CHICAGO, IL, August 2, 2004 – Moneris Solutions, one of North America’s largest electronic transaction processors, today announced that Deb Koontz has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Affiliate Sales.

In this role, Koontz is responsible for building and maintaining the company’s affiliate sales program which affords partners the ability to offer a fully integrated turnkey merchant services solution that is implemented and executed by Moneris. Koontz will focus on developing long-term sales strategies with Moneris sales channel partners, including Harris Trust and Savings and RBC Centura Bank.

“Our affiliate sales channel is a key part of the Moneris U.S. growth strategy,” said Larry Wine, president of Moneris Solutions U.S. Group. “Deb has already played a key role in expanding Moneris’ scale and distribution throughout the country and her continued contribution will help solidify Moneris’ position as the financial institution’s provider of choice.”

With more than 15 years of business experience within the transaction processing industry, Koontz has held a variety of senior level sales and finance positions at Moneris Solutions. As business advisory manager, she was involved in developing the company’s annual revenue plan. Additionally, she designed and implemented new comprehensive pricing models, developed strategic pricing for the agent bank market, and assisted in evaluating portfolios for acquisition. As vice president of payment services, Koontz developed, implemented, and maintained pricing strategies for new and existing clients, and implemented operational aspects of revenue/fee enhancement projects.

Previously, she led the sales team and account management staff as vice president of the direct merchant group. Koontz developed an in bound telemarketing team while transitioning field reps to a more proactive environment.  She also designed portfolio profitability reporting models that are still used company-wide. She has also held positions of relationship manager and risk consultant. Before coming to Moneris Solutions, Koontz held a variety of sales positions during her ten-year tenure with Harris Trust and Savings Bank. She started her career as a business development officer at Water Tower Bank in Chicago.

“Moneris stands out in the competitive processing sector because of our dedicated service to the agent bank and financial institutions market segment,” said Koontz. “I am excited about my new role and look forward to working with our affiliates to expand Moneris card processing services throughout the U.S.”
